From my first University year,  a making module that was part of a work experience that became employment, my whole class were tasked with creating children's interactive costumes for Bishop Auckland Castle. The costumes were based on notable historic people who had visited the castle in its lifetime. My character was Queen Eleanor of Castile, the final piece is below, a kid friendly version of what was fashionable in the Middle Ages for women. Details include a faux leather braided girdle (belt) appliqued onto the main robe, ribbon adorning the sleeves and neckline, and Velcro placket at the back.
